Ukrainian Easter Eggs, also known as Pysanky (singular form - Pysanka) are whole egg shells, which have been decorated with a complicated wax-resist method.

Samples
First, one draws those portions of the design that meant to be white with melted wax on the plain, white egg.
A small, hollow funnel attached to a stick is often used to heat the wax and draw with.
This tool is called kistka (plural form - kistky).
The egg then is placed in the lightest dye color (usually yellow).
When the egg is removed from the dye, everything under the wax will remain white because it is preserved by the
wax on it.
Then the parts of the design that meant to be yellow are being coverend with wax also. The egg is placed
in another, darker dye color, and so on until the process is done and the egg is nearly covered with wax.
In the end, the wax is being melted and the egg whiped off with a soft paper towel to reveal the beautiful design
underneath.
